The Perch is an obstacle that is frequently encountered in the game.
The Perch is a narrow area just wide enough for one of the three heroes to stand on. They are usually constructed of one, two or three wooden boards or wooden beams or the branch of a tree etc. Occasionally they can be made of stone or metal. They often occur high up and sometimes there are a series of Perches forming steps that can be jumped to reach a new area. Sometimes Perches are arranged to allow the heroes to move straight upwards vertically in a series of jumps to a new area. Sometimes Perches will be arranged with ledges forming a series of jumping points. There are many Perches that the three heroes will have to negotiate on their quest. Perches are usually easily negotiated with a little thought and experimentation.
Perches frequently have traps like the Flamethrower and will need to be jumped with careful timing.
Any Enemies in the area should be dealt with before negotiating a Perch.
Skeletons nearly always guard the sets of Perches leading to new areas. Some Skeletons are agile climbers and jumpers and traverse the Perches easily.
- All three heroes can jump the Perches.
- Knight: he can sometimes place objects to get on to some Perches.
- Thief: she can use her Grapple Hook to swing on to or under some Perches.
- Wizard: he can conjure magical objects to get onto or to cross some Perches.
Important note: one of the most useful things the Wizard can do is to conjure Planks across two Perches, even if they are at different levels.
